Your word processor analogy is closer to recommending someone uses a different DAW. (fuck knows why ReCycle still costs €179 though.) A nice interface isn't for show, it's for workflow. the ReCycle version of that just requires you to turn up the 'Stretch' knob. The ping pong feature the OP mentioned would mean taking each individual hit, duplicating it, reversing it, applying envelopes. I can do all that in Logic, but it would take a lot longer than a dedicated plugin (admittedly Logic's approach isn't the smoothest of all the DAWs!). Rearrange it, make new patterns, switch in new sounds, layer other sounds underneath the hits to beef them up, set up automation groups to control pitch, envelope and effect parameters over multiple sounds at once. You're more than likely still going to do what you've done before even if the other has a prettier looking button that enables you to trigger "y" function.īut hey, I know my "learn your tools" train of thought is old school.Ĭlick to expand. That's not dedicated, that's low level - not lesser in capability, just more discrete.ĭedicated slicers would mean I can load up a break and have it automatically sliced. It's like having a word processor and then wanting to buy another word processor that does the exact same thing but looks different. Nobody has to stick with shit they don't like BUT that doesn't change the fact that using any other tool that accomplishes the same basic things won't make you more creative. Secondly, if the guy doesn't want to use his on board tools then fine. Now if you want to pay for a nice interface then that's your perogative, but don't act like there is something new under the sun with all this. All of this "extra" features can still be accomplished withing your daw. Firstly, what's more dedicated than placing audio markers on some audio, cutting said audio and maybe adding an affect or pitch shift or something else.
